Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from March of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet rescued four early-game chances in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
