Automobiles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Officers reported they were notified by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then found multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report early analysis show the liquid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for details.

A senior official stated the vandalism made him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in five years prior.
